A biennial international symposium series, MH2026 (Sendai, Japan), will provide an opportunity for world-leading researchers, early and mid career researchers/engineers and students to present and discuss the latest results in terms of diverse reactions between hydrogen and a wide range of materials, including metallic materials, inorganic materials, polymeric materials and organic liquids, and more.
The two predecessor international symposia, which began in 1968 and 1977 respectively, were merged 36 years ago in 1988 to become the International Symposium on Metal-Hydrogen Systems. In response to the diversification of research themes and with the aim of further development in related fields, the name of the symposium has been changed from “Metals” to “Materials,” and the topics covered have been significantly updated.
This is expected to have the following effects and outcomes: fostering early career researchers/engineers who will lead the related R&D in the future, promoting new collaborations both domestically and internationally, developing innovative hydrogen energy technologies from a global perspective, and contributing to the actual realization of a carbon-neutral society.
